And don’t forget for BGP:

BGP:

eBGP: next hop changes between AS

iBGP: next hop remains the same, therefore need to use next-hop-self if route to next hop is unknown by peer. Or add the eBGP subnet into the routing table. Or change the next hop by using a route map.

BGP synchronization:
iBGP should not advertise a route unless all routers in your AS have learned about the route via IGP.
